Should a wallpaper promoting freedom and Open Source be using a non free license? Using either the “Non Commercial” or “No Derivatives” option on a Creative Commons license is a significant restriction on its use. Both of these clauses are not compatible with Open Source or Free Software licenses. However, using the “Share Alike” option effectively prevents its use in a commercial work because it would force that work to also be licensed in the same way. Someone intending to resell your work isn’t going to want to do that.
I should also point out, I was making the same mistake until someone pointed it out to me.
